The White House Twitter account named Ted Cruz after praising a new highway project he actually voted against.
The U.S. senator from Texas appears to have been trying to get credit for the Port to Plains project, leading to a White House trolling of the Republican politician.
“The Port to Plains highway will run from Laredo all the way to North Dakota and into Canada. This project will bring jobs to Texas and millions of dollars to the state. A great A bipartisan victory!” Mr Cruz tweeted.
In response, the White House simply tweeted: “Senator Cruz voted no.”
according to Rolling Stones magazine, the project was funded through the $1.5 trillion omnibus appropriations bill that President Biden signed into law on March 15.
A few days ago, the US Senate passed the bill by a vote of 68 to 31. While Senator John Cornyn of Texas voted yes, Senator Cruz did not.
Mr Cruz has been an outspoken supporter of the project, but his spokesman told Rolling Stones The bill he voted against was a “democratic democratization of American families’ recession.”
Dave Vasquez, the senator’s press secretary, added: “Port to Plains could have easily passed unanimously in the Senate as a separate bill, but it was incorporated into the pork-laden omnibus Democrats passed in Congress. in the bag.”
