Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has called on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorcas to resign as President Joe Biden’s administration set a new record for illegal immigration to the United States.
As Breitbart News reported this week, Border Patrol has apprehended roughly 2 million border crossings and illegal aliens since October 2021 — a record for illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, with more than 10,000 to go before the end of fiscal 2022. a month.
That figure does not include the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have successfully crossed the southern border each month for the past year and a half without being detected by Border Patrol. A recent analysis found that about 5 million border crossings and illegal aliens have arrived at the border since Biden took office.
Hawley, who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, released a letter On Wednesday, that called for Mayorkas’ resignation amid record-breaking news about illegal immigration:
I am appalled by the record levels of illegal immigration into our country. According to the department’s statistics, This fiscal year, Customs and Border Protection agents have encountered more than 2 million illegal immigrants crossing our southern border.That’s significantly higher than last year’s record 1.7 million encounters, and the year isn’t over yet. This number represents a more than fourfold increase in illegal immigration compared to fiscal 2020. These are only official statistics and fail to catch many escapees evading detection. After two years of employment, you have demonstrated that you do not intend to enforce our immigration laws. [Emphasis added]
There are consequences for you to completely abdicate your responsibility to defend the border. This year alone, a record 78 people have been placed on our nation’s terror watch list. These are just what we know. [Emphasis added]

Amid record-breaking illegal immigration this fiscal year, Biden has dramatically expanded his catch-and-release operations, releasing more than 1 million border-crossers and illegal aliens from February 2021 to May 2022. American community.
DHS Inspector General (IG) Report It was revealed this week that the Biden administration is releasing border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities without giving them tracking numbers known as “A-numbers.” The DHS IG report states:
We found that Border Patrol did not issue A-numbers to 107 of the 384 migrants, most of whom were paroled into the country or given notices to report. Agents do not always assign A numbers as they attempt to expedite processing and divert migrants from overcapacity Border Patrol facilities,” the DHS IG report states:
Additionally, the Border Patrol does not always maintain alien files on immigrants. border patrol and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Unable to provide 80 of the 384 immigration files requested because they were lost, disposed of, or in transit. The Border Patrol processed these documents because they did not have A numbers and were unaware of record retention requirements. [Emphasis added]
The Biden administration has not disclosed the number of border crossings and illegal aliens released to American communities by the Department of Homeland Security between June 2022 and August 2022.
