We’re finally seeing details emerge from the next flagship camera phone that will replace the OnePlus 10 Pro.Prolific tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks, shared the spec sheet of the new OnePlus 11 Pro with the site 91 mobile phone (opens in new tab)and they have all the details ahead of the next Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform.
Of course, we expect the next generation of OnePlus phones to use the most powerful Qualcomm processors available, since the most advanced chips have always been the backbone of OnePlus’ best phones. The camera setup also looks set to improve significantly. We’ve heard before that the Hasselblad brand is returning to the OnePlus family.
Now on the OnePlus 11 Pro, we’re seeing a huge camera array, not just a 48MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. It seems the telephoto could get a significant boost from the current 8MP on the OnePlus 10 Pro to the new 32MP sensor on the rumored OnePlus 11 Pro.
Curiously, we’ve also heard that the front-facing selfie camera could take a step back in terms of megapixels. The current OnePlus 10 Pro has a 32MP selfie camera, but the OnePlus 11 Pro is rumored to have a 16MP sensor on the front. Of course, megapixels aren’t everything a good photo is all about. In addition to large sensors with large pixels, great lenses with large apertures are good replacements for high MP shooters.
Otherwise, the OnePlus 11 Pro seems even more so. The screen will again be 6.7 inches, like the OnePlus 10 Pro, and run at a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The battery holds 5000 mAh of power. For OnePlus fans, the popular alert slider feature will remain on the device.
Analysis: OnePlus likes a lot of cameras in its Pro
For OnePlus, the Pro family side means great cameras. While the company’s latest phone is the flagship-grade OnePlus 10T, which features the superb Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, the OnePlus 10 Pro retains the best camera the company has to offer. The OnePlus 10T is cheaper, but it compromises on the camera.
OnePlus isn’t bothered by the Hasselblad branding on the OnePlus 10T, but rumor has it that the pro-strength camera company will sell its chops to OnePlus for the next Pro-level phone, and we’re excited to see a camera sensor upgrade to maintain this legacy. The 8MP telephoto sensor is simply not good enough, so we’ll be excited to see what new photos the 32MP camera can bring.
We also won’t be held back by the upfront megapixel reduction. For years, the best iPhone cameras and the best Google Pixel phones have taken great images with the 12MP camera. There’s no reason to believe that switching from a 32MP sensor to a 16MP sensor guarantees a drop in image quality. Only time and more spec leaks will tell.
