Gearbox is going all-in on Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, turning it into “a new franchise,” with “future experiences” already in development.
CEO Randy Pitchford commented on the success of Tiny Tina during a recent all-hands meeting at parent company Embracer Group, which Buying Borderlands Studios for $1.3 Billion last year (and Purchased Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, etc. Acquired IP from Square Enix for $300 million this year).
“Gearbox Software has had a major win over the past year with the launch of a new franchise, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands,” said Pitchford. “Wonderlands has beaten all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially, and I’m delighted that in addition to this win that will provide us with great financial returns over the next few quarters, we have built a solid The beachhead. We now obviously have a new franchise on our hands, and Gearbox is already developing future experiences.”
As always, experience, Not necessarily full fat game, work here. For starters, having more Wonderlands DLC in the pipeline is a reasonable bet given Gearbox’s track record. Here’s hoping any future content will be better than the game’s gFour-part season passes are usually poor.
Pitchford’s comment also doesn’t necessarily confirm that Wonderland 2 is in active development, though it does strongly suggest that a sequel or some form of follow-up is just a matter of when, not if.we already know Gearbox apparently has “nine AAA games in development” Among its many brands and studios, Wonderlands 2, or at least a work-in-progress skeleton with a vague resemblance to it, could be one of them.
Pitchford’s comments are also noteworthy In response to Take-Two’s previous remarks, which went on to release Borderlands (and now Wonderland) games. In May, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the game “exceeded” expectations and mentioned “the possibilities of this new series” [for] The next few years. ”
