Jeff Kaplan (no, not Overwatch) and Ian Springer are reportedly lead writers on Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

reporter deadline, the two have apparently been on the project for some time, working with Marvel boss Kevin Feige to bring the film into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kaplan and Springer are also co-writing Warner Bros. Disaster wedding.

WandaVision’s Matt Shackman will direct the Fantastic Four after Spider-Man: Nowhere director Jon Watts pulled out of the project. Shackman, Kaplan and Springer reportedly adjusted their vision for the film prior to production.

The Fantastic Four promises to be a big moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as we recently learned the film will kick off Phase 6 of the MCU when it hits theaters on November 8, 2024. Phase 6 will wrap up the MCU’s multiverse saga with Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

We know very little about the plot of the Fantastic Four, other than the fact that Feig said it wouldn’t be an origin story. For more on the Fantastic Four, check out the five villains who could appear in the movie.
