Disney has released the first trailer for “Strange World,” a brand new animated sci-fi action-adventure film featuring all-star voices.
Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhaal) comes from a long list of explorers, but he’s never been adventurous. That all changes when Callisto Mal (Lucy Liu) shows up on the Clade family’s doorstep seeking their help, a mission that involves exploring a dangerous “unfamiliar world”. Dennis Quaid, Jaboukie Young-White and Gabrielle Union also star. The trailer is a fantastic neon look to a whole new world – we can’t wait.
“Moana” and “Big Hero 6” co-director Don Hall will co-direct with American playwright Kui Nguyen, who will also provide the script.
First announced in 2021, the film is finally getting an update at D23 — attendees got their first look at the trailer along with an exclusive clip involving the Seeker, his grandfather, and an octopus-like creature.
“I’ve always wanted to be in Disney animation, so it was a dream come true,” Gyllenhaal told D23 Viewers. The actor previously voiced DreamWorks Animation’s 2021 animated film Spirit Untamed.
Strange World will be released in the United States on November 25, 2022.
