Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, who attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral earlier this week, has tested positive for Covid-19, the Copenhagen Crown Court said on Wednesday.

The 82-year-old head of state, who had reigned for half a century, canceled this week’s appointment.

Queen Margaret, who had been vaccinated against the coronavirus, was also diagnosed with Covid-19 in February this year while showing mild symptoms.

Her half-century-long reign now makes her Europe’s longest-reigning monarch after 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, ruling for 70 years. Out of respect for the late British monarch, Margaret earlier this month asked her court to adjust plans for her own 50th anniversary event.

Among her short-term cancellations were an appearance on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace to greet well-wishers and a horse-drawn carriage ride through Copenhagen. In January 1972, Margaret was proclaimed queen, a day after her father, King Frederick IX, died of a brief illness.
