
Two people who wish to remain anonymous claim $1.337 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot Lottery officials said Wednesday that a one-time payment of $780.5 million was chosen after a single ticket sold in the Chicago suburbs in late July.
The Illinois Lottery said the July 29 draw was the third-largest in the U.S. lottery, and the two had agreed to split the winnings equally if they won.
The winners want to remain anonymous, and the Illinois Lottery said it couldn’t share any information about the winners, other than to say they had to be absolutely “on the moon” to win the Mega Millions. Whether the winner can remain anonymous varies by state.
Lottery officials said the pair have been working with professional legal and financial advisors over the past few weeks to support the claims process.
“These jackpot winners are now in an enviable position to decide what to do with their new fortune,” said Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays.
According to megamillions.com, a winning ticket was purchased on the track Gas stations and convenience stores in Des Plaines.
The winning numbers are: 13-36-45-57-67, Mega Ball: 14.
The jackpot has grown so much because no one has matched the game’s six selected numbers since April 15th. This is the 29th consecutive time without a jackpot winner.
According to lottery rules, Mega Millions winners have one year after the draw date to claim their prize. Winners have 60 days to choose whether they want a one-time payment or a smaller annual payment.
